Cyril Scott (1879-1970)

La Sonatina di Cyril Scott, grazie alla sua importanza musicale e storica, rappresenta una delle sommità della letteratura chitarristica del xx secolo.Concepita da un compositore che sposa le influenze più diverse alla sua forte personalità, la Sonatina si mette a fianco delle più importanti composizioni del periodo, quando si è alla scoperta delle risorse timbrico-espressive della chitarra. Fra le altre cose, resta da notare che quest'opera è la prima mai stata scritta da un compositore non chitarrista inglese.

It's quite obvious that Cyril Scott's Sonatina, thanks to its musical worth and its historical importance, represents one of the summits of the guitar's repertoire of the xxth century. It was concceived by a musician who knew how to blend perfectly the most diverse influences, from Debussy to delius,with his own strong personality. The Sonatina joins and measures up to the most important works composed in those fruitful decades, when the musical world stood amazed at the discovery of the guitar's expressive qualities.
